With the predominance of my shooting whilst in Mexico was done at the comfortable confines of the Hotelito, I did have the opportunity to work at the Todos Santos Inn. Such striking contrast between the two locations, from old world style to modern design.

The majority of the work will end up being presented in a series format to be posted at a later date. This post I am presenting a small handful of individual images to showcase our time there. Carlotta and I had previously worked together in Vancouver back in 2007 and was a fantastic experience. This time around was no different. Thank you Carly 🙂

Beach Shack 2 with Carly

After my first unsucessful shoot at the Beach Shack I gave it another try with Carly. We were seen the first time because we started on the back facing the property. With Carly we approached from the front and never went out back.

These are some of the images from my shoot with Carlotta and SaraLiz. We started in the bar of the Todos Santos Inn, then moved to the spare bedroom, recently vacated by Robert.

A few months before arriving to Mexico I had this image in my head all of a sudden of Carlotta with a Sombrero posed exactly like this:

So I emailed the owner of the Hotelito to ask if she knew of any shops in the area to purchase a sombrero or if I should buy one in Los Angeles and suffer the issues of flying on the plane wearing a sombrero. She told me a friend of hers had some antique sombreros and they just so happened to be from former El Presidente’s of Mexico. Of course I promised to treat the sombreros with the utmost care and she came through for me. This speaks volumes of how amazing she is. I’m thankful she entrusted me to use the sombreros. They were gorgeous!

Carlotta and I traversed all corners of the Hotelito during our shoot and found some beautiful light and cool areas for posing with these historical sombreros and for doing other images too. ¡Arriba! Carlotta is blessed with the ability to work in so many different genres of photography and it’s always so great to work with such a pro. I didn’t get to see her feature in Mexican Playboy while we were there… anyone have a link? Would love to add it here! Quite a coincidence. ha.

In between marathon scanning sessions I remembered that I actually had another camera with me, and I’d actually used it. So here are some digital photographs of the stunning Carlotta Champagne, all made at Casa Dracula.

Carlotta Champagne

It was a long 12 months waiting to shoot with the lovely Carlotta again. Why is Florida so far away from Sydney ? (well everywhere is a long way from Sydney….)

I do have a slight confession to make… I had scoped out the location the day before (there is another story there about getting the hire car bogged to the eye balls) and I did know that the corridor of the abandoned cannery we were shooting was a home to a cloud of bats. Seeing Carly flee the scene, arms flailing in the air screaming “there are bats in there!!” high tailing it across the desert, in only flip flops… was…errrr… a little comical. Apologies Carly… It was sooooo NOT funny.

Sara Liz

Sara Liz seems to be Carlotta Champagne’s partner in crime although I get the impression that Sara Liz is the more devious one of the two lovely American ladies. Mal Grant and I spent the whole day with these two and lets just say there wasn’t a dull moment. Here’s some of the images I shot of Sara from the old cannery, the Todos Santos Inn and the beach in the late afternoon.

Sara, it was indeed a pleasure working with you and I look forward to hopefully working with you again in Australia in the not too distant future.

Carlotta Champagne

I had such an amazing shoot with Carlotta last year at Mission Beach so I was really looking forward to working with her again this time around. We ended up shooting in a number of different locations including the old cannery, the Todos Santos Inn and the beach through out the day so we got a great variety of images. She is the consummate professional and she certainly didn’t disappoint with this latest shoot.
