Amazing

There were such amazing people and surroundings at Zoefest 2011! Scott and I enjoyed meeting old friends and making new ones! Thank you Zoe for making this all possible!

I borrowed a tub from Rex, and Claudine had some fun with it out on the beach at Los Palmas. Ella Rose and lensbaby are a great match too….love that mosquito net at Todos Santos Inn!

Thank you Claudine, Ella Rose and Rex for making these images possible. 🙂

A few images

the images in black and white are kind of crappy scans of prints I made in the dark room but I wanted to share them anyway since they were taken in Mexico. I have 9 pages of contact sheets to start playing with next week. I am leaving town tomorrow so I have to hold off a while more. Ahh!

Thank you everyone (and especially Zoe) for a wonderful time, I am already psyched for next year!

Back to the rat race

I’m sitting in the parking lot of Whole Foods as a friend shops for her hippy food waiting. So out of boredom I thought I’d upload a few snap shots from Todos Santos.

The drive back was pretty uneventful except for the wandering moo cow in the middle of a bit of construction. As I’m snapping the photo Candace reflected on the guy urinating on the side of the road. Made for a great giggle.

Todos Santos is a cute little town, I’d go back even just for a weekend get away. The Hotelito is great for that. LOVE it there. Can’t wait to get the photos Michael Marlborough shot from our dinner with The Mechanic in Chef, Iker who fixed about 15 different dishes representing different regions in Mexico. The food was to die for. Unfortunately I think I gained weight that night. Ha. Brilliant. Jenny, the owner, was such an amazing host and took such great care of all of us.

So until we get those photos please enjoy a few random snaps of different things. 🙂

Bye Bye Baja

Well the 10th annual Zoe Fest (Fest X) has sadly come to an end. This was my third Zoe Fest, my first outside of Australia and it certainly won’t be my last. Once again I have had an absolute blast working, socialising (i.e. Drinking!) and just plain old chilling out with an amazing bunch of talented photographers and beautiful models, without whom, I would not have been able to create such amazing imagery during my stay in Todos Santos.

New friendships were forged and old ones reaffirmed to become even stronger. This is easily my favourite time of the year and I’m already looking forward to the next one – where ever that may be!

A big thanks to all of those that participated but in particular to Zoe for her tireless efforts, Mick Marlborough for securing all that amazing sponsorship from Lens Baby, Rogue Photographic Design, Expo Disc and Peak Design. Thanks also to Rex from A&I Books for all his help. My travel buddy Mal Grant, it was awesome fun if not a little scary driving on the opposite side of the road with you! Last by no means least, thanks to all of the models. I love each and every one of you and have nothing but admiration for your efforts and modelling skills.

Luckily for me my adventure hasn’t ended just yet and I will now be spending the next few days in VEGAS BABY!! But no, I won’t be sitting in the casinos gambling what little money I have left away. I will be heading out into the Nevada Desert for a couple of shoots with a crazy local model called Wonder Hussy! Sounds like fun to me!! 🙂

Sara Liz

Sara Liz seems to be Carlotta Champagne’s partner in crime although I get the impression that Sara Liz is the more devious one of the two lovely American ladies. Mal Grant and I spent the whole day with these two and lets just say there wasn’t a dull moment. Here’s some of the images I shot of Sara from the old cannery, the Todos Santos Inn and the beach in the late afternoon.

Sara, it was indeed a pleasure working with you and I look forward to hopefully working with you again in Australia in the not too distant future.

Carlotta Champagne

I had such an amazing shoot with Carlotta last year at Mission Beach so I was really looking forward to working with her again this time around. We ended up shooting in a number of different locations including the old cannery, the Todos Santos Inn and the beach through out the day so we got a great variety of images. She is the consummate professional and she certainly didn’t disappoint with this latest shoot.

Thanks again Carlotta! Until next time….

“See you next week.”

Such mixed feelings today. Extreme happiness in the memories of the past 1o days. Sadness and a bit of eye mistiness as the dwindling group of us help to load the cars and hug out what is the end of an extraordinary experience here.

“See you next week.”

It’s the only thing that to say that minimizes our melancholy as we are extracted from this all too brief cocoon of joyful creativity and community. Goodbye is simply too difficult to say at the moment.

I was invited here as a stranger to join this beautiful collection of humans and will leave as part of a family of wonderful artist friends. You have all been so welcoming and generous with your spirit and inspiration that I know this experience, this first ZoeFest for me, will always be remembered as one of the best moments of my life. Thank you for that.

I created images here I didn’t know I had in me due to the collaboration with some of the most beautiful, intelligent and creative women I have ever met. Sometimes with a bit of a plan, sometimes just seeing what we discovered wherever we were, the resulting images were always beyond what I could have imagined.

As I looked over the shoulders of the photographers editing their images, I was in awe of what we had all discovered, sometimes in the same locations but all unique in their point of view. I have learned much from all of you.

Here is a small sample of the embarrassment of riches I was able to create with the help of my new friends.
